Senior Carer Gemma Higgs shares her story
“I joined TrustCare in March 2015 and since then we’ve grown quickly from 3 to almost 50 carers, mostly by customers and their families telling people about the care they receive.
A typical day usually involves a home visit where, depending on the client’s needs, you’ll help with household tasks, washing and dressing, preparing meals, taking medications and supporting them to get out and about to go shopping or spend time with friends.
Unlike other agencies I’ve worked for, we’re not rushed, which means we get to spend quality time with the people we support and deliver the care they need.
I also like the security of having contracted hours, instead of never knowing what I’m going to get each week, so I can organise my life around work.
Since I’ve been at TrustCare I’ve had the opportunity to get my care qualifications and I’ve been promoted to Senior Care Co-ordinator, which means I manage a team of carers and work closely with all our new starters.
For anyone thinking about applying, I’d definitely recommend it.”
