I get to make a difference everyday

Rachel loves helping people to be happy, healthy and independent.

Rachel says:

“It’s always been important to me to have a job where I make a difference and feel good when I get home from work. That’s what it’s like being a Carer at Trustcare, helping people to live a happy, healthy and independent lifestyle in their own home.

A typical day starts at 7am where I’ll help clients get up, washed and give them their breakfast and medication. We’ll have a chat and see what they’re getting up to that day, and maybe stay for a cup of tea and just keep them company.

I then move onto lunch calls where I’ll prepare meals, help with washing and drying clothes for clients or get any shopping they might need. In the evenings I’ll do similar activities, and sometimes read to clients and help them get ready for bed, making sure those who use a nebuliser have it set up for the night.

Making my clients smile makes me feel proud every day and I love receiving compliments when they have called up the office to say how much they appreciate all I do for them.

We also get great support at Trustcare, the team has a good working relationship and excellent Senior Carers who are always available when you need them. I’ve also done training courses to help improve my skills and I am working towards my Care certificate.

To anyone considering becoming a Carer, if you are a good listener, patient and can take other people’s feelings into consideration then you’re half way there. If you’re willing to give your time and be rewarded with smiles, know you’ve worked to the best of your ability to give someone the care they need then you should give it a try - and you won’t be disappointed with Trustcare.”
